Hello!
Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador
My name is Rayea, and I am a Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador from Freeborn County. There are a lot of fun activities coming up this spring and summer.
National 4-H Conference
The National 4-H Conference provides young people the opportunity to connect, learn, engage and lead to impact their communities, nation and world.
At the conference, delegates have the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions and presentations to federal partner agencies and engage with their U.S. senators and representatives.
Minnesota 4-H will select four to eight young people to attend this event alongside over 250 youth participants during April 14-19.
Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities
Youth Engaged in Leadership & Learning Opportunities (YELLO) is held June 13-16 for Minnesota 4-H'ers in grades 7 through one-year post-high school. This year’s theme is “Branch Out with 4-H."
YELLO is an event primarily planned and facilitated by the state ambassador team. Youth will be engaged in activities to develop their strengths and leadership skills.
During YELLO, we will have a workshop day where youth will learn about different topics such as the outdoors, agriculture, the arts, photography and more. Youth can also participate in various service projects focused on the environment due to this year’s service theme, “Go Green with 4-H." There will also be, of course, a 4-H social night.
YELLO is the perfect place to create friendships from around the state and to learn more about your community and world. Registration opens on April 1.
Apply to become a state ambassador
State ambassador applications are open! Being a state ambassador has been the most memorable experience; I have met many awesome people who have become a family to me. I have gained confidence and public speaking and networking skills. I also learned so much about 4-H and the world.
As a state ambassador, you will plan and facilitate the Building Leadership and Understanding (BLU) workshops and YELLO, help out at events, have the opportunity to attend national events and represent Minnesota 4-H at a state level.
The application is open to youth in grades 10-12 and is due April 17.
True Leaders in Equity Institute
True Leaders in Equity Institute is an event held in July centered around equity and inclusion. Participants will identify an issue to focus on, gain knowledge and develop skills to lead and then organize a 90-day action plan for when they return home.
They will have the opportunity to create with other participants while broadening their awareness of organizations and ways to make a change. This event is open to youth ages 15-19 and adults interested in attending.
Scholarship applications are due April 3; acceptance will be announced on April 21.
Spring is here
We have officially made it through winter and are excited to be outside. With spring and summer comes many 4-H and agricultural activities; farmers will be getting their equipment ready, livestock and general project registration is coming up and the end-of-the-school-year fun is ahead.
