Camp Counselor applications are now available for youth in grades 9 and over. Serving as a camp counselor is a key leadership activity for many 4-H youth. Camp counselors learn important leadership skills like persistence and teamwork, develop long-lasting relationships, and learn how to respond in a variety of scenarios. Camp counselors support younger youth (who have just completed 3rd-8th grades) in learning and help them have an affirming and fun experience.
Why are camp counselors important?
Counselors are the heart of 4-H summer camp! Counselors provide active, hands-on fun and cooperative outdoor programming, lead cabin activities, and supervise all aspects of the campers’ day. Selected camp counselors plan camp and receive required counselor training through the planning process.
If you are in 9th grade or above and would like to have an opportunity to utilize your leadership skills this summer, make friends and work with youth...then we need you as a camp counselor! Youth are encouraged to complete a camp counselor application for the 2022 4-H Camp at Camp Patterson.
Counselors will be at camp from Tuesday, July 5 to Friday, July 8.
Camp Counselor Trainings will be held:
April 11th from 6:30-8PM via Zoom
May 1st from 1-4PM, location TBD
June 4th from 10AM-3PM at Camp Patterson
July 5th starting at 2PM at Camp Patterson (Pre-Camp Counselor Day)
Deadline to apply is Monday, February 28, 2022
