For more than 100 years, 4-H has inspired families, shaped careers, and impacted communities. From October 1-7, we will celebrate the impact of 4‑H during National 4‑H Week. The theme of this year’s National 4-H Week is “I 💚 4‑H.” As you plan ahead for how you will mark National 4-H Week in your community, here are some ideas of you can celebrate 4-H and show all the ways you 💚 4‑H !
Two ways to participate in local national 4-H week promotional contests
Create a 8.5 x 11 poster promoting 4-H
Age categories:
- Cloverbud- K-2 Grades
- 3-5
- 6-8
- 9+
Your poster can:
- Promote your favorite 4-H project
- Show off an aspect of 4-H- hands on learning, youth leadership, a program you care about, etc.
- Promote your 4-H club
- Highlight a service project
- Anything you want to share!
How to enter:
A scanned image of your poster must be sent to annag@umn.edu by October 1. Posters will be shared via social media during national 4-H week!
Posters will be reviewed by a volunteer judge and one poster will be selected from each age category to win a $15 premium.
Create a promotional display in the community to promote 4-H
Your club or group can put up a display in our local communities as one of many ways to tell others about 4-H and to encourage them to consider getting involved. Use your creativity and imagination to share what you enjoy most about 4-H!
Your display should promote 4-H. A good display should provide clear information:
- What is 4-H? Will people know important basics after they look at your display (or just one part of 4-H)? You can include real project books, real projects, ribbons, plus photos to show all the parts of 4-H.
- Is there a phone number/e-mail?
- Is there a local club name? (Good PR in the community!)
- Is there a brochure or any paper to take home with information/website/e-mail?
- Photos - Are they captioned? Are the captions in LARGE enough letters to read easily?
- Is there at least one obvious 4-H Clover?
- Is it attractive, interesting and pleasing to the eyes? Examples: Bright colors, variety of textures, shapes, balloons. Is lettering easy to read from a distance?
How to enter:
Email annag@umn.edu information on where to find your display. All displays should be in place by Monday evening, October 1. Judging will take place sometime during that week. As a way to recognize clubs for their efforts, the 4-H Management Committee gives exciting prizes to the top displays.
Good luck in your creativity and marketing efforts! Thank you for helping tell the public about the wonderful things the 4-H Program has to offer!
Find tools and ideas on how to use this year's national theme #ilove4-H in your display. You are not required to use the theme.
