The Driven campaign

In 2021, we successfully completed Driven: The campaign for University of Minnesota Extension.

Through the tremendous generosity of 8,172 donors, Extension achieved our $16,000,000 goal for these strategic initiatives:

  • Create opportunities for young people from across the state to learn skills outside traditional classrooms.
  • Share practical knowledge and quickly respond to changes that affect Minnesotans’ well-being.
  • Cultivate new and emerging leaders who will guide our communities in the coming decades.
  • Attract and retain faculty and Extension educators who can listen to Minnesotans’ needs and collaborate to deliver solutions.

Extension lives at the intersection of scientifically sound research and the needs of Minnesota’s families, organizations and communities. Demand for Extension programs is rising, along with the cost of producing that programming, and traditional sources of financial support are no longer sufficient. Investments in Extension help ensure that as circumstances change, Extension continues to help Minnesotans adapt and thrive.

5,262 donors made their first-ever gift to Extension during Driven.

Nearly one-quarter of the gifts received during Driven were deferred gifts made as part of donors' estate plans. The remaining contributions were cash gifts with an immediate impact.
