The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education’s (AFCPE) Real Money Real Experts podcast series co-hosts Rebecca Wiggins and Mary Bell Carlson recently interviewed Sara Croymans, University of Minnesota Extension family resiliency educator,  about the essentials of financial emergency preparedness. Croymans, who was instrumental in developing AFCPE's partnership with FEMA, draws on her experience counseling disaster survivors, gamblers and military service members, and offers guidance on how to provide the best service to these audiences. Tune in to the conversation and share your thoughts.

The Extension Center for Family Development has a long history of providing disaster recovery resources with the Recovery After Disaster: The Family Financial Toolkit and the Financial Recovery After Disaster Video Series.

Croymans along with Extension educator Lori Hendrickson recently conducted focus group discussions with disaster survivors, professionals and volunteers to determine key disaster financial preparedness action steps and the need for additional financial preparedness education and resources. Together they facilitated a webinar, “Preparing Your Finances for Disasters & Pandemics.”
