Whether your exit is three years or three decades away, every business owner needs an exit strategy. If your business doesn’t transfer, what will happen to the customers, employees, and other people who rely on your business? Keep your business on track – and prepare your legacy – by taking Extension's online course. The five-week course will guide you through a planning process to plan for your transition.Who: Business owners who want to be prepared to transition when the time is right – whether that timing is expected or unexpected.What: A discreet and confidential online course designed for business owners to understand all their options and create a formal, comprehensive, and strategic succession plan. Participants will receive a non-certified, approximate estimate of business value.When: Weekly 1.5-hour Zoom sessions over five weeks — Thursdays, April 3 to May 2 from 8:30–10:30 a.m. The first week is a reading/prep week with no scheduled class. A couple sessions will be at a different time; we will find a time that works for all and record all sessions in case you have to miss one.How: Professional instructors and coaches, curated materials, small group breakouts, and learning with other business owners.Why: Success does not happen without a plan.Most importantly, you will create your succession and transition plan. If you desire outside professional assistance, this course will help you find it.Session designLive weekly Zoom sessionsMaterials accessed onlineIndependent activitiesThe class materials become available on March 27 and live sessions start a week later. We will record the 90-minute sessions in case you have to miss one. InstructorsThis course will be led by Lori Moen from VisionOne High Performance Group and Becca Leys/Michael Darger from the University of Minnesota Extension. Lori is a former business owner and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (Exit Planning Institute). Becca and Michael are University of Minnesota Extension educators who provide education and research on business succession and transition across Minnesota. This course is created and operated in a partnership between Extension and VisionOne.
