Raising beef on your dairy

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

Dr. Joe Armstrong, Extension educator in cattle production, will discuss incorporating beef breeds into the reproduction plan on dairy farms.

Carcass traits currently dominate the focus of the dairy-beef conversation. While these are important, there are other factors that also must be considered. We'll talk about using beef genetics on dairy cows to provide calves that are worth more for the feed lot than straight Holstein calves.

This event will focus on goals, marketing and EPD’s (expected progeny differences) as well as the key limitations you need to keep in mind when deciding to incorporate beef to your operation.
