Minnesota 4-H A Day in the Life Photo Challenge

Minnesota 4-H photography is excited to offer a statewide photography challenge open to youth in grades K-13!

Capture a moment in your life each day for a week. Document your daily activities as they unfold naturally - mealtime, friends, family, hobbies, backyard, animals, etc. 

How it works

Select five of your seven images (with no or minimal editing) taken between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15. From your five images, select one to write up to two sentences on why that photo is important to you. 

Submit your five jpg or jpeg images and statement in one email to fourhphoto@umn.edu by 11:59 p.m. CST on Jan. 15, 2024.

Please use "A Day in the Life" as the email subject line, and in the body of the email, include the participant's name, grade and state. Also, include your one- to two-sentence statement and indicate which photo you wrote your statement about.

You will receive a confirmation email once your email submission has been received and your registration verified. Note: Please be patient with receiving the confirmation email, as it is not automated - a staff member has to do it.

Rules

• All youth (grades K-13) are welcome but must be enrolled in 4-H. Join 4-H! 
• 4-H members must be the ones taking pictures.
• Photos must be taken between Dec. 15, 2023 and Jan. 15, 2024. 
• Photo submissions must be completed in one email by 11:59 p.m. CST on Jan. 15, 2024. Submissions received in more than one email will not be accepted. 
• Everyone who participates in the photography challenge will have their names entered in a random drawing for prizes.
• Volunteer photography judges will provide feedback and recognize the top-quality images.
• Submitted photos and statements will be shared through an online slideshow.
