Local Foods College: To till or not to till? Tips for fall soil prep for vegetables
Tuesday, September 18
For most vegetables, the growing season is coming to a close. But we're not done quite yet! What we do now to prepare our soil has a big impact on the health and productivity of next year's crop. Extension Educator Annie Klodd will talk about the fall soil prep to-do list: Cleaning out or tilling in old plants, soil testing, cover cropping, adding nutrition, and controlling winter annual weeds. She will answer questions like, "Should I till plants in or take them out?" and "When is the best time to add compost and fertilizer?"
