Thinking of showing animals this year?
ID's are due by May 17; here are a few tips to get the process started:
- Now is a great time to be thinking about and looking for 4-H Livestock projects! We have resources available to help you with what class an animal would be in, what breeds, what age and to learn more about your animal! Be sure to check out the Minnesota 4-H Animal ID page as you begin thinking about livestock projects: https://extension.umn.edu/projects-and-more/4-h-animal-id. Be sure to check out the required birthdates before you purchase or lease an animal.
- The Stevens County 4-H Premium Book used in 2020 is also online to help you consider the classes that are available at our County Fair and how many animals members are able to exhibit in each specie; the information will be the same for 2021, with the exception of the addition of a spring calf class for dairy heifers. The 2020 Premium List can be found at z.umn.edu/SC4-HPremiumlist.
- Families enrolled in animal science projects will be soon be receiving a detailed mailing regarding the 4-H Animal Science ID Deadline. 4-Hers who would like to exhibit beef, dairy, dog, goat, horse, lama, rabbit, sheep, or swine at the county 4-H show, must have them identified and entered into 4-H Online by May 17.
