We can’t wait to see you on entry day!

4-H entry day is a project judging day before the county fair opens to the public. It’s a fun, exciting day for youth to share their projects and learning with caring judges.

2023 entry day information

  • Thursday, June 15, 2023, 2:30-7 p.m.
  • The fairgrounds entrance is off of Brockton Lane, between Bass Lake Rd/Highway 10 and Troy Ln N/Highway 101. If you’ve been here before, there are a lot of new housing and commercial developments.
  • Parking is available off of Brockton Lane in a grassy field. Follow the signs posted.
  • The Hennepin County Fair is outdoors, except for our 4-H tent, so please dress for the weather forecast.
  • Entry day is for 4-H youth and family members only, as the fair is not open to the public on this day. Come back Friday-Sunday to enjoy fair activities.

What to bring

  • Your awesome project(s)! Label each item: with your name, club and county. If the exhibit has multiple pieces, each part must be labeled and indicate 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.
  • Water bottle to stay hydrated; maybe some snacks, too, if needed.

Get ready for your judging experience

  • Practice answering questions. Check out our showcase dashboard pages, like preparing for Judging to review various questions the judge might ask you during your judging time. This page also includes the folder containing all 4-H project evaluation forms.
  • All 4-H exhibitors will receive a ribbon for each project (white, red, blue, green). These can be taken home that day. In addition, competitive awards and ribbons like purple, Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons and state fair trips will be announced later that weekend.
  • Don’t forget your ribbon placing also comes with a monetary award-- find more info on ribbons and premiums. Then, visit the Hennepin County Fair throughout the week to see if you won a higher ribbon or a state fair trip.

While you’re here on entry day

  • Grab an entry day bingo card and complete it to win a prize.
  • Play games and do fun activities with the Hennepin County 4-H Ambassadors.
  • Meet 4-H summer staff, other peers and families.

Visit us later that weekend at the fair

4-H staff, volunteers and your awesome projects will be gracing the 4-H tent all weekend long for the public. Come back to visit and take part in the various activities offered!

All Hennepin County 4-H youth, completing grades K through one-year post-high school.
