The Basic Horse Nutrition Online Certificate Course

The Basic Horse Nutrition Online Certificate Course is a semi self-paced, six-week certificate course focused on developing an understanding of how the anatomy and physiology of the horse’s gastrointestinal tract interacts with the use of feedstuffs and the horse’s nutritional requirements.

Topics include

  • The horse GI tract.
  • Feeding behavior.
  • Key nutrients.
  • Types of feedstuffs.
  • Reading a feed tag.
  • Feeding young, adult, aged, performance and diseased horses.

The course begins the week of January 14, 2019 and concludes the week of February 18, 2019.

Online registration required by Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 11:59 pm. The course is limited to 75 participants.

About the certificate 

To earn a certificate, participants must earn ≥70% on three 10-point multiple choice quizzes and participate in three online course discussions. If a certificate is not wanted, participants do not have to complete quizzes or course discussions.

The course is recommended for adult learners (ages 18 and older) but is open to everyone. The course is open to the public and will not result in college credit.
