Hosted in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, this workshop provides aquatic plant identification training for people of all skill levels. Whether you are brand new to learning about plants or are a seasoned professional wanting to hone your skills, you’ll find helpful aquatic plant identification information.
You'll learn, hands-on, how to identify lake and wetland plants using live samples. You will see more than 60 species representing native and invasive, broad- and narrow-leaved pondweeds, macroalgae, submersed plants, floating-leaf plants and emergent plants.
There is an optional test at the end of the session. Consultants who complete the workshop and pass the test, and who qualify to be on the DNR listing of Surveyors of Aquatic Plants in Lakes, will be acknowledged on the Minnesota DNR website. Non-professionals also are welcome to take the test.
If you are a beginner, we strongly encourage you to arrive in time for the optional 8 a.m. introduction to aquatic plant identification session.
Participants may purchase a copy of one of the following identification guides, offered at a discount for workshop participants when you register:
$75
$40 for the identification guide of your choice (optional)
The registration links should be added in the field(s) below. But, if this is where you can add information regarding how to register, if needed.
