Aquatic plant ID workshop

Thursday, July 25

lily pads on lake

Did you know that Minnesota is home to six native watermilfoil species along with one invasive watermilfoil? Or how about that we have eight carnivorous aquatic plants (bladderworts)?

This is a great opportunity to get a more in depth knowledge of our underwater forests. We’ve partnered up with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center to bring this fun, hands-on workshop to you.

Join us in a room filled with live aquatic plants gathered from across the state with experts guiding you through how to identify all of them. This workshop is open for anyone from beginners to experts. Consultants that provide aquatic plant surveys for hire have the opportunity to complete this workshop and pass an accompanying test to be recognized on the list of surveyors of aquatic plants in lakes on MN DNR’s website.

Event starts at 9:00 a.m., however there is also an optional introduction to aquatic plants session beginning at 8:00 a.m.
