Are you a child care provider who would like to learn more cooking whole grains for the children in your care? If so, the Building a healthy plate: Cooking with whole grains online course is for you.

About this course

Child care providers are being encouraged to serve children more whole grains. In this course you will:

  • Learn how to read labels for whole grains,

  • Get tips for shopping for whole grains on a budget.

  • Explore ideas on how to prepare whole grain foods that children will eat.

  • Learn how to introduce whole grain foods to children and their families.

It was developed by the University of Minnesota Extension. It is an Anytime Learning (ATL) course that is offered through Eager-to-Learn, a program of Child Care Aware of Minnesota.

Cost and registration

The cost for this course is $30.

This two-hour, self-paced course can be completed at home when it works best for you.

Continuing Education

This course provides 2 hours of continuing education for child care providers in Minnesota. Child care providers outside of Minnesota should check with their licensing agency to confirm if the course will count as continuing education.
