New CYFC Director
University of Minnesota Extension Center for Family Development is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Lynne Borden, Professor in the Department of Family Social Science, as the new Director of the Children, Youth, & Family Consortium.
Dr. Lynne Borden brings to this role a wealth of experiences having joined the University of Minnesota in 2013 as a Professor in the Department of Family Social Science. Previously, at the University of Arizona, Tucson, she served as the Thomas W. Warne Professor of Excellence in Youth Development in the Norton School of Family Consumer Sciences, and as a faculty member and extension specialist in the Division of Family Studies and Human Development. In addition, she served at Michigan State University as a member of the faculty and extension specialist as well as the State Leader of 4-H Youth Development, Children, Youth and Family Programs.
Borden's research contributes to better understand the relationships young people have in various contexts and how those relationships affect their overall development. Over the course of her career, she has been awarded government, private and foundation grants in excess of seventeen and a half million dollars to support her work.
CYFC will benefit from Borden’s research which has focused on community-based programs and the role of these organizations in promoting the positive development of young people and their families. Working in partnership with community-based programs, Borden’s research helps organizations enhance their ability to better meet the needs of those they serve with data that allows them to make programmatic and policy changes.
CYFC work will intersect with Borden’s research center, the Center for Research and Outreach (REACH), an innovative center with the mission to provide high-quality, accessible research, outreach, and evaluation that builds the capacity of individuals and systems serving children, youth, and families. Please help me welcome Lynne as a team member with CYFC and Extension Center for Family Development.
