In the Willmar Lakes Area, 26 participants graduated from the Vision 2040 Leadership program. Vision 2040 Leadership is an advanced leadership training program that focuses on preparing the next generation of leaders to answer the call to serve the communities of the Willmar Lakes Area.
Toby Spanier is the lead educator for Vision 2040 Leadership. He commented, “Vision 2040 Leadership alumni are making significant differences in their teams, organizations, and community. I believe this leadership development program continues to evolve just as leadership needs to evolve with our changing environments.”
Vision 2040 Leadership has been operating since 2015. The program is sponsored by the Willmar Lakes Area Vision 2040, Willmar Community Foundation, local businesses and participant tuition. More than 145 graduates have participated in Vision 2040 Leadership, many of whom currently serve local boards, businesses, non-profits, committees and government.
Extension provides alumni programming to all graduates of Extension leadership programs. Christy Kallevig, alumni program leader, notes that this alumni network seeks to create mutual benefit. "Leaders in Minnesota's communities are making a difference, and we want to continue to be there to provide education and support. More importantly, these community leaders can be there for each other, sharing ideas and solving problems together."
