In Brown County, 22 participants have graduated from the Bridging Brown County program. Bridging Brown County is a leadership training program that strengthens the community by bridging relationships of understanding and communication in Brown County.
Catherine Rasmussen is the lead educator for Bridging Brown County. She commented, “Brown County has been a forerunner in defining how we think of our community. Many of us think of our community as only the town in which we live, but we also belong to a larger rural community: the community formed by all residents of Brown County.”
Bridging Brown County has been operating since 2002 and operates as a private non-profit organization. Over 370 graduates have participated in the Bridging Brown County program, many of whom are serving local boards, businesses, non-profit organizations, committees and government.
Extension provides alumni programming to all graduates of Extension leadership programs. Christy Kallevig, alumni program leader, notes that this alumni network seeks to create mutual benefit. "Leaders in Minnesota's communities are making a difference, and we want to continue to be there to provide education and support. More importantly, these community leaders can be there for each other, sharing ideas and solving problems together."
